Installation Terms
These Installation Terms apply to all ceiling, drywalling, insulation, suspended ceiling, thermal ceiling, and related installation services carried out by Cape Ceilings and Drywalling.
By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, or instructing us to commence work, the client agrees to these terms.
1. Quotations and Validity
All quotations provided by Cape Ceilings and Drywalling are based on the information available at the time of quoting.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, quotations are valid for 7 days from the date of issue.
Prices may change after this period due to:
- supplier price increases
- transport cost changes
- labour cost adjustments
- project scope changes
- availability of materials
Any quotation based on photographs, measurements supplied by the client, or verbal information may be adjusted after site inspection.
2. Deposits and Payments
A deposit may be required before:
- Materials are ordered
- labour is scheduled
- Work commences on site
The deposit amount will be specified on the quotation or invoice.
The remaining balance is payable immediately upon completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Late payments may incur additional collection or legal costs where applicable.
All amounts are payable in South African Rand (ZAR).
3. Site Access
The client must provide safe and reasonable access to the work area.
This includes access for:
- delivery vehicles
- ladders and scaffolding
- materials
- installation teams
- waste removal
If access is restricted, delayed, or unsafe, Cape Ceilings and Drywalling reserves the right to postpone the work and apply additional charges where necessary.
4. Client Responsibilities
Before work begins, the client must ensure:
- The work area is cleared of furniture and valuables
- Electrical access is available if required
- pets and occupants are kept clear of the work area
- existing leaks, structural damage, or defects are disclosed
- roof or ceiling access is safe
Cape Ceilings and Drywalling will not be liable for delays or additional costs caused by failure to prepare the site.
5. Hidden Defects and Unforeseen Conditions
Quotations are based on visible and reasonably known site conditions.
If hidden defects or unforeseen issues are discovered during installation, additional work and charges may apply.
Examples include:
- damaged roof timbers
- rotten battens or beams
- water leaks
- mould or damp damage
- electrical obstructions
- non-compliant previous installations
- unsafe ceiling structures
- damaged drywall framing
The client will be informed before any additional work proceeds.
6. Scope Changes and Variations
Any work requested outside the original quotation shall be treated as a variation.
This includes:
- additional rooms
- extra materials
- upgraded products
- added ceiling sections
- bulkhead additions
- drywall changes
- plastering and finishing extras
All variations may result in revised pricing and adjusted completion times.
Verbal instructions from the client may be treated as authorised variations.
7. Completion Times
Estimated start and completion dates are provided in good faith, but may change due to:
- weather conditions
- supplier delays
- stock shortages
- site access problems
- unforeseen structural issues
- Client requested variations
Cape Ceilings and Drywalling shall not be liable for delays outside our reasonable control.
8. Existing Property Condition
While all reasonable care is taken, installation work may involve interaction with existing ceilings, walls, cornices, paintwork, or finishes.
Cape Ceilings and Drywalling shall not be responsible for pre-existing cracks, movement, water damage, weak plaster, or previously poor workmanship.
9. Waste Removal
Standard quotations include only the waste removal specifically stated in the quotation.
Where not included, removal of old materials, rubble, or packaging may be charged separately.
10. Cancellation
If the client cancels after materials have been ordered, the client remains liable for:
- material costs
- transport costs
- supplier cancellation fees
- labour booking losses
Deposits paid may be retained to cover these costs.
11. Warranty
Workmanship warranties apply only to work carried out directly by Cape Ceilings and Drywalling.
Supplier warranties on products remain subject to the manufacturer’s terms.
Warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- roof leaks
- moisture
- structural movement
- misuse
- third-party alterations
- impact damage
12. Final Inspection and Acceptance
The client must inspect the completed work upon handover.
Any concerns must be reported within 24 hours.
Failure to raise issues within this period may be deemed acceptance of the completed work.
13. Legal Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
Any disputes shall be handled under the relevant South African legal jurisdiction.
